The Chandigarh Chapter was launched by Sir Rob Young, the then British High Commissioner on 12th September, 2002. We started with 32 members. The Chapter has now 120  Life Members. The members are from various fields including the IAS, IPS, IFS, Doctors, Educationists, Industrialists, Architects, Town Planners, the Armed Forces, Judiciary, Journalism and Electronic Media.
 
The Chapter has made steady progress not in increasing the membership but in organising high quality events and activities. The chapter has an average of organising a programme a month with the support of the British Council. This is the most happening chapter in the region. The Chapter has also held a number of programmes in health, medicine, environment and social awareness areas for the benefit of the members and people at large. All the events are attended by the members along with the friends of the ABS. The events are covered widely by the media.

The Executive Committee of the Chapter meets almost once every month and also before taking up an event for apprising and involving the members in the event(s). Invitations to these meetings are often extended to members who may not be a part of Executive Committee but are supporting them in organising any particular event.
